Clay Hardt was by far my favorite player on defense, and maybe the entire team. He reminded me a lot of  Minnesota Viking Chris Hovan. Great with the hometown fans, and can really get a crowd pumped with his on the field emotion for the game. Although he plays a different position, he also has a great sense of where the ball is and where it will be.

Clay's Senior year, was played at Free Safety. Junior year he played in all 12 games as Strong Safety, and still saw some action there in 2003. In 2001 Clay was voted Most Valuable Special Teams Player, for his ability in Special Teams with the Wildcats.

Before going to Arizona, Hardt was named to the All-City team by the Tucson Citizen, and an All-4A selection by the Arizona Daily Star. In High school, he also was an accomplished wrestler, State Wrestling Title as a Junior. In this picture, you can see him holding a first place trophy for his weight class.
